Emma Craig

I started my traineeship at Kerr Brown in July 2016. Throughout my traineeship, I was supported and encouraged by senior members of staff, particularly by Senior Partner, Robert Kerr. Robert deals with a large number of litigated files and throughout my traineeship, he involved me in every step of the court process. I gained invaluable court experience throughout my traineeship and this stood me in good stead after I qualified in 2018.

Craig McKellar

I commenced my traineeship with the firm in May 2017. I was trusted to manage my own caseload from the beginning with the help of senior colleagues, to interview clients, draft court documents and conduct court hearings to improve advocacy skills.

Not only have I gained knowledge in all aspects of the law surrounding Personal Injury, but under the guidance of senior colleagues also gained knowledge in areas including debt recovery and eviction, employment law and private client.

Heather Lillis

I began my traineeship in September 2018. Initially I began making calls to insurers but before I knew it I was drafting Court writs and now have my own caseload. I have been exposed to a variety of different areas of law such as personal injury and contract law. My traineeship has given me a wealth of knowledge which will be invaluable in my future career. Kerr Brown have supported my development in many ways and I look forward to continuing my traineeship with such a professional and experienced firm.

Ian Ward

I started working as a Claims Handler in 2013. I was struck by the warm and supportive atmosphere where assistance was on hand when required and where one’s opinion and effort was always valued. At that time, I was undertaking a part-time law degree and I was uncertain about the type of law I would like to practice at the conclusion, or the type of firm with which I would like to work.

I graduated from the degree in 2015 and the diploma in 2017. By that time, I was delighted to have been offered a traineeship with Kerr Brown. In the intervening years I had found that my knowledge and understanding of the ins and outs of personal injury law and of client care had been greatly increased by my experience with Kerr Brown. This was due in no small part to the assistance, support and advice provided by my colleagues.

Liam Scott

My first job at Kerr Brown was in the New Claims Department. I have prepared cases for losses arising from personal injury, medical and cosmetic negligence, property damage, and loss of earnings. The experience gained in this role has given me an understanding of the procedures involved in the process of personal injury and property damage claims in particular, and I hope to gain further experience in this and other fields during my traineeship.

The firm has been incredibly accommodating and flexible with me during my time at university and I look forward to beginning my traineeship at Kerr Brown and dedicating myself to the role.

Stephanie Petropoulos

I began my traineeship with Kerr Brown in 2015. I spent the first few months working with one of our claims teams gaining an understanding of the firms’ systems and road traffic claims in general. I had my own caseload, which meant I was able to interact with clients from the outset. This ‘hands on’ approach is a great way to learn the ropes, increase your knowledge and boost your confidence.

Kerr Brown has a real team spirit and everyone is supportive of one another. Their open-door policy makes learning at Kerr Brown an enjoyable experience. The firm is one that values its trainees and if you invest in Kerr Brown, Kerr Brown will invest in you. My traineeship was challenging but extremely rewarding and I am looking forward to furthering my career at Kerr Brown as a fully qualified solicitor.
