A number of UK safety organisations have given their backing to a European-wide campaign that aims to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on Europe’s roads.

Road safety charity Brake has called on the UK Government to do more to tackle drink-driving after recent figures show little change in the number of people killed because of drink-driving.

Countries across Europe are failing to reduce the number of people dying in road traffic accidents, the European Transport Safety Council has said. One possible reason put forward to explain this failure is a fall in the level of police enforcement on our roads.
